Tesco Queen

So... after finding Hannah and Jane we headed down to Fopp to hear Duke Special playing an in-store set. He was in Glasgow supporting the Divine Comedy that night, and since he's so nice, he entertained the faithful fans in Fopp a few hours before the gig.

It was really great - a cosy atmosphere, admiring fans, and a wonderful Northern Irish accent. Near the end of his set, I felt that the evening would be more complete if he played one of his songs from days gone by, so in the split second of silence, I proclaimed the words "Tesco Queen" (a song from the days of Booley) After a slight pause, he spoke up, saying that he hadn't played that one in a very long time, but would give it a go.

It was wonderful! I feel that I won a victory for the people. After the gig was over we were chatting to him, and he said that he really enjoying playing Tesco Queen 'cause he hadn't played it in so long. All in all, a beautiful afternoon.
